In this issue of HeliOps we examine how helicopters are providing a resource to the companies building a powerline from Los Angeles to Tehachapi in Southern California and how without them this project probably couldnt have been undertaken. We also look at the recent Santa Barbara fire that helicopters, again played a major part in bringing under control.

Glen White gives his thoughts on working with the AS350 minus the tail rotor, something all AS350 pilots should take some time reading as it provides a great insight into this little known area. Australian EMS pilot Greg Ohlson got some hands on with Bell's newest addition, the 429, and details what he likes and doesnt like about this pivotal model in the Bell lineup. And finally where is the recession biting, or is it? Jeff Decker speaks with some of the industry's players to see what their thoughts are.
