Equinor has awarded Lufttransport a five year contract to operate two new SAR helicopters for the Troll and Oseberg area, with an option for five one-year extensions. Lufttransport will be the third helicopter operator qualifying for assignments on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The two AW139s will be delivered to Lufttransport in the second quarter of 2025 and will be operational by 2026 as part of the SAR emergency response system in the Troll and Oseberg area of the northern North Sea.
The new helicopters will supplement the two Sikorsky S-92 machines that currently perform these tasks with one stationed at the Oseberg field center. The second will be a back-up SAR machine that will be stationed at the heliport at Flesland and will also be used for passenger traffic to and from Equinor installations.
