The Austrian Armed Forces are currently supporting efforts to fight forest fires in Tyrol. Three helicopters from the Armed Forces have been deployed in Wildermieming to provide assistance. They have aso helped fight a forest fire in the Virgental valley in East Tyrol. This operation was concluded the same day.
In Wildermieming, an Agusta Bell 212 transport helicopter, an AW169 "Lion", and an S-70 "Black Hawk" are currently providing aerial support to civilian emergency services. The helicopters primarily carry out firefighting missions and supply personnel in difficult terrain.
On Saturday, the Austrian Armed Forces supported efforts to fight a forest fire in the Virgental valley in East Tyrol. An S-70 "Black Hawk" helicopter, an Agusta Bell 212 air raid shelter, and an army tanker truck were deployed. The assistance operation was concluded later that same day after the successful support of the civilian emergency services.
“Fighting forest fires requires swift and decisive action. Our soldiers, together with the emergency response organizations, are making a vital contribution to protecting people, infrastructure, and nature as effectively as possible. I thank all deployed personnel for their dedicated and professional service,” emphasized Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.
