An Italian Canadair CL-415, operated by Vigili del Fuoco, has been involved in a mid-air accident, after striking the cable of an AS332 Super Puma, while fighting a wildfire in the countryside near Guspini, south western Sardinia,

The Canadair passed underneath the AS332 Super Puma and hooked its 30 meter cable attached to a Bambi Bucket. The cable partially cut through the wing of the CL-415 on impact.

Despite the damage, both aircraft made a safe emergency landings at Decimomannu Military Airport in southern Sardinia and no injuries have been reported following the incident.
