Earlier this month, Coulson completed final test flights for a new Night Vision Goggle Supplemental Type Certificate, raising the bar for night-time aerial firefighting operations. This certification included the first-ever FAA flight test of a CH-47 Chinook performing hover-fill over open water at night, a milestone that reflects Coulson’s commitment to exceeding standard requirements in safety, design, and flight performance.

The CH-47’s unique three-person crew configuration enhances situational awareness during critical missions, especially at night. With five years of NVG operations already under our belt, this latest cockpit upgrade continues to advance the most modernized Chinook in civilian service.
