The Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection taken delivery of three Austrian built Diamond DA62 MPP surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, at a cost of cost €23,336,000. The three aircraft are equipped with a Trakka TC-375 EO/IR Camera, Smith Myers ARTEMIS Mobile Phone Localization System, CarteNav AIMS-ISR Mission Management System, Line of Sight & Beyond Line-of-Sight Datalink, 4G/5G Data Link and Maritime VHF Radio.
The comprehensive contract, signed in Athens, includes not only the aircraft but also ground stations, training, spare parts, and long-term support. This is the first time the Hellenic Fire Service has acquired its own state-owned aircraft for firefighting purposes.
The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said “As the fight against the climate crisis becomes more difficult, we must constantly upgrade the tools at our disposal.”
