Momentum Aeronautics is proud to announce that Heatwave floats have received EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) validation, clearing the way for operation across Europe.
This milestone follows the successful FAA STC approval in October 2025 and marks a significant step in bringing Heatwave to operators worldwide. With EASA validation complete, European aerial firefighting operators now have access to a platform specifically engineered to enhance safety, water handling, and operational reliability in demanding environments.
Heatwave was designed from the ground up for the Air Tractor 802A, with a focus on improving pilot operating margins during water operations. The platform incorporates a single-scoop-safe design, allowing safe operation even if one of the two scoops is not deployed. Additional design features include optimized float positioning for stable water handling and forward structural reinforcement to better absorb large wave impacts. A fully redesigned nose landing gear system provides smooth touchdowns and eliminates shimmy, improving both water and ground handling.
These design features make Heatwave particularly well-suited for challenging operations where durability, stability, and control are critical.
“EASA validation is an important step in making Heatwave available to operators beyond North America,” said Dan Garrett, President of Momentum Aeronautics. “We’ve focused on building a platform that performs in real-world conditions—especially where water handling can be unpredictable. We’re excited to support European operators with a solution designed for those demands.”
Momentum Aeronautics will support European customers through its regional partner, AGS in Spain, which is now accepting inquiries and orders.
Following strong demand in North America, Heatwave is sold out through 2026, with future delivery positions filling quickly. Operators are encouraged to reserve their place as production capacity remains limited.
