The Province of Ontario has announced an investment of over $500 million to purchase six new De Havilland DHC-515 waterbombers.
This purchase is part of a larger investment by the Ontario government to strengthen its wildland fire program and expand its air fleet in
response to increasingly severe wildfire seasons.
These new aircraft are expected to join Ontario's air fleet in the early 2030s and this is the second order for the DHC-515 in Canada,
following an earlier order of three aircraft from Manitoba.
A number of European countries including Greece, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy have also have placed a confirmed orders for the DHC-515
De Havilland is currently establishing the production line for the DHC-515 at a new facility near Calgary, Alberta. The first flight is scheduled for 2027 followed by the first delivery to Greece in 2028.
