Avincis has been awarded a new contract for an expanded advanced air medical transport service in the Canary Islands.

Avincis has delivered the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) helicopter operations for more than 20 years, delivering critical, life-saving support across the archipelago, and this contract reinforces its commitment to helicopter emergency medical response in the region.

As part of the agreement, Avincis will continue to operate advanced life support helicopter services in close collaboration with the SUC, combining its aviation expertise with highly specialised medical teams provided by the regional emergency service. A key enhancement under the new contract is the introduction of a dedicated medical helicopter base in Fuerteventura, already operating. This major upgrade significantly strengthens emergency response capabilities for both residents and visitors of Fuerteventura, as well as the eastern islands.

With this expansion, the operational network will grow from two to three bases across the Canary Islands: Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria.

Avincis will operate three EC145 C2 helicopters, each configured for advanced life support missions, whose aviation crews—comprising a pilot and co-pilot—are provided by Avincis. All aircraft are fully equipped with state-of-the-art electromedical systems and advanced life support equipment, enabling immediate, high-complexity medical care during flight.

“This new contract reinforces our long-standing partnership with SUC and underscores our shared commitment to safeguarding communities through fast, high-quality emergency medical response,” says Avincis Group CEO John Boag.
