Gold Coast, Queensland based Plane Support has received CASA approval to manufacture the Bell 214B cabin air conditioning ducting using additive manufacturing, following a project they started almost two years ago. They scanned the ducting, redesigned it for 3D printing and developed the processes and inspection methods to prove each part to CASA’s standard.

McDermott Aviation said “For us, it’s about building capability here in Australia. As Type Certificate holder for the Bell 214B, having approved parts manufactured locally gives us more control over supply and shows what additive manufacturing can offer Australian aviation.”
