DRF Luftrettung has been awarded the contract to operate a new air rescue station in Lahr, Ortenau. Starting in 2026, DRF Luftrettung will operate from Lahr Airport with an H145-D3 using the radio call sign "Christoph Ortenau."

Equipped with a glass cockpit, four-axis autopilot, anti-collision system, weather radar and state-of-the-art medical technology this helicopter type offers the ideal prerequisites for demanding missions. Until the modern new building is completed, an interim infrastructure will be set up to ensure smooth operation at the scheduled start of operations.

Christoph Ortenau will be available for both primary emergency rescue and secondary transfer and intensive care transport between hospitals.  It will be operational daily from sunrise until sunset. The long-term operation of the new air rescue station is secured by a 15-year contract.

"The awarding of Christoph Ortenau's contract is of particular importance to DRF Air Rescue and all its employees. We will establish the new location together with our partners and continue to develop it consistently based on future requirements," said Dr. Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Air Rescue. "We look forward to sustainably strengthening patient care through air rescue in Baden-Württemberg's largest district and thank you for the trust you have placed in us."
