HALO Air Ambulance new BK117 is now fully operational, designated HALO-1, it joins HALO-2 that will now become their backup aircraft.

The aircraft is also HALO’s first fully-branded aircraft, featuring designs of southern Alberta’s sweeping prairies, rolling hills and the rocky mountains plus the iconic Medicine Hat Teepee that symbolizes where HALO is based at Medicine Hat Regional Airport, Alberta, approximately 180 miles southeast of Calgary.

HALO Air Ambulance is Southern Alberta's only dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Program, established in 2007, and both aircraft will be based at Medicine Hat.

HALO also responds to a variety of calls for service each year, including; emergency medical scene calls, critical care inter-facility patient transfers, search and rescue, fire rescue, law enforcement incidents, and all hazards disaster responses. The availability of the helicopter, strategically based in Medicine Hat, improves the response time to critically ill or injured patients in remote and inaccessible areas and increases our capacity for delivering qualitative medical care and rescue services.
