The Canadian Department of National Defence have announced the first upgraded CH-149 Cormorant helicopter, modified under the Cormorant Midlife Upgrade Project, has successfully completed its first flight in Yeovil, United Kingdom. The first flight is an important milestone in the production process where the design is tested, and the helicopter’s ability to fly safely is evaluated.

The next step will be the final testing of the enhanced systems and capabilities before the first aircraft is delivered to Royal Canadian Air Force in 2027.
