The Philippine Air Force formally held the Formal Blessing Ceremony for two newly accepted Bell 412EPX Utility Helicopters at Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing modernization and capability enhancement efforts of the PAF.
The two aircraft arrived in the country in February, representing the first batch delivery under the Additional Utility Helicopter Acquisition Project, which involves the procurement of eight Bell 412EPX helicopters from Bell. The completion of all deliveries is expected by 2027.
They will be operated by the 205ᵗʰ Tactical Helicopter Wing and will significantly enhance the PAF’s tactical helicopter lift and multi-mission operational capabilities. The aircraft will primarily support troop transport for counterinsurgency and internal security operations, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance missions during calamities such as typhoons and earthquakes, as well as medical evacuation and logistics support in geographically isolated and remote areas.
With the addition of these new aircraft, the PAF now operates a total fleet of 16 Bell 412 helicopters.
The Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, Lieutenant General Arthur M Cordura, highlighted the strategic importance of the newly acquired helicopters in advancing mission readiness and operational effectiveness.
“The arrival of these Bell 412EPX helicopters represents a clear and tangible investment in our ability to respond, to sustain, and to prevail. These aircraft will carry our troops into mission areas, bring relief to communities in times of disaster, and extend the reach of the PAF wherever it is needed most,” Lt Gen Cordura stated.
The acquisition reflects the PAF’s continuing commitment to build a more capable, more responsive, and more resilient Air Force that is prepared to address the evolving demands of national security and humanitarian operations. More than symbols of modernization, these aircraft serve as vital instruments of public service, reinforcing the PAF’s dedication to protecting the Filipino people and supporting national development efforts.
