Mixed UK and French crews from 36F Squadron at Naval Air Station Hyères have conducted joint flights with the Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100 and its Royal Navy variant, the Peregrine. This training enhances allied expertise and operational cooperation on uncrewed systems fielded by both navies.

The French CAMCOPTER S-100 is a highly capable rotary-wing uncrewed aerial vehicle and The Royal Navy’s Peregrine is a UK-specific adaptation of the S-100 built by Schiebel and heavily modified with military-grade Thales UK radar and electro-optical/infra-red cameras.

The key aspects of this joint interoperability initiative included personnel from the UK's 700 Naval Air Squadron and the French Navy regularly embed at Hyères to share best practices, pilot training and tactical concepts. The cross-training on shared platforms, ensure that their autonomous operations are deeply compatible, which is critical during combined NATO, expeditionary or Combined Joint Expeditionary Force deployments.

Further Exploration by both navies of Uncrewed Maritime Capabilities will explore the full technical specifications of the CAMCOPTER S-100 and access the technology for a detailed breakdown of the Royal Navy's deployment and operational usage of the Peregrine in the Middle East.
